Enrolling in Medicare for the First Time

Please see below the information to assist enrolling in just part A of Medicare or part A and part B of Medicare simultaneously. People who receive Social Security income payments when they turn 65 are automatically enrolled in Medicare A and B. Those who do not receive Social Security income payments when they turn 65 are not automatically enrolled. They will need to sign up for A and B online. You have three options. The preferred method is to click the link below and enroll in A and B online.
Check the box saying- I understand and agree to the above statements.
Then Click “Next”
If this is your first time on Medicare’s website, click on: Start a New Application
If you have already set up your username and password on Medicare or Social Security, click on: Return to a saved application
Fill out the application and you are all done. You should have confirmation in your online portal in about 7 days and receive your Medicare card in 3 to 5 weeks!
2. Schedule a phone appointment or go in person to your nearest Social Security office - Click here to Contact your local Social Security office.
Note: If you do not enroll in Part A and Part B during your Initial Enrollment Period, you will have to wait to sign up. This may cause a gap in your coverage and you will have to pay a lifetime late enrollment penalty, and that penalty increases the longer you wait.
